Whether you're heading out on a boat trip, arriving before check-in or enjoying your final hours after check-out, having somewhere safe and convenient to store your belongings can make a real difference.
Born from our own experience in the Algarve
The idea for Lock & Leisure didn't start in an office. It grew from our own experiences as frequent visitors to the Algarve and Albufeira.
Over the years, we spent a lot of time in Marina de Albufeira and saw how many people pass through the Marina every day — taking boat trips, visiting restaurants and cafés, enjoying activities or simply spending time in the area.
We also noticed something simple: sometimes you just don't want to carry everything with you. A backpack during a boat trip. Shopping bags while exploring. Suitcases after checking out of an apartment. Or luggage when arriving hours before check-in.
From that observation, the idea for Lock & Leisure was born.
The natural place for a smart locker service
Marina de Albufeira is much more than a place where boats depart. It is a lively destination with restaurants, cafés, leisure activities and numerous boat tours departing throughout the day.
For us, it was the natural place to introduce a modern smart locker service. In August 2025, Lock & Leisure opened its first location directly next to the boat boarding area, providing convenient short-term storage for visitors to the Marina.
Since then, real customer use and feedback have helped us continuously improve the service.
One idea, two smart luggage solutions
As Lock & Leisure developed, one thing became increasingly clear. Visitors were not only looking for somewhere to leave smaller belongings. We were regularly asked by customers and local businesses whether we could also provide storage for suitcases and larger travel luggage.
That led to the development of our second luggage storage solution within Albufeira Marina.
Small Smart Lockers — for backpacks, handbags and personal belongings, conveniently located next to the boat boarding area.
Large Luggage Storage — for suitcases and travel luggage, with larger indoor smart lockers and the option to reserve online.
Together, they allow Lock & Leisure to provide a luggage storage solution for different moments throughout a visitor's day.
Designed around real experience
We believe good services are never truly finished. Since opening our first location, we have learned from real interactions with visitors, customer feedback and our own operational experience.
We continue to improve the way customers find, access and use our lockers — from clearer wayfinding and digital information to easier payment and booking options.
Technology is important to us, but only when it makes the customer experience simpler. Our aim is not to make luggage storage complicated. Quite the opposite.

Contributing to the place we are part of
For us, being part of Marina de Albufeira means more than simply having lockers there. Lock & Leisure works together with local tourism and leisure businesses and is an official partner of Marina de Albufeira and a member of Associação Turismo do Algarve (ATA).
We have also invested in an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at our Marina location and supported CPR/AED training sessions for people working within the Marina.
It is a small example of something we consider important: if you are part of a place, you should contribute to it too.
